Pune: The Foreigners’ Registration Office (FRO) of Pimpri Chinchwad police has detained three Ugandan women for staying in India after their visas expired.
The Pimpri Chinchwad police also appealed to landlords, hotel owners and residents to submit C-Forms within 24 hours of a foreign national checking into their room, flat, bungalow or hotel. “The three women were found staying there,” an FRO officer said. The officer said the women’s passport and visa details were verified through the C-Form portal and the Immigration, Visa and Foreigners Registration & Tracking (IVFRT) system. “The inquiry revealed that none of them had obtained a visa extension after their permitted stay ended,” the officer said. “They have been detained, and action has been initiated for their deportation,” he said.
He added that the women had entered India on student and medical visas but continued to stay in the country without authorisation after their visas expired. The police warned that failure to provide the required information could invite legal action. Citizens have also been urged to inform the nearest police station or the Pimpri Chinchwad FRO if they come across any foreign national staying illegally or overstaying in the city.
