Madras high court has denied relief to a petitioner who sought a direction to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for removal of certain objectionable scenes from the Tamil film Jana Nayagan, starring chief minister C Joseph Vijay.

Madurai : Madras high court has denied relief to a petitioner who sought a direction to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for removal of certain objectionable scenes from the Tamil film Jana Nayagan, starring chief minister C Joseph Vijay. “It had been stated that in Pappampatti, which is a fictional village stated in the movie, apparently there was a caste problem. But again, the reference is only to a fictional village called Pappampatti and not to Pappapatti in Usilampatti in Madurai district. We are confident that the producers of the movie never had an intention to harm the reputation or even to cause any mental harm to any of the villagers of Pappapatti,” the judges observed and disposed of the petition.
