The department said the show-cause notices could lead to departmental action, including suspension or cancellation of drug licences. The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) conducted the inspections along with enforcement wing police personnel in vulnerable areas of Saroornagar, Balapur, Hayathnagar, Musheerabad, Secunderabad, Begumpet and Amberpet. Similar raids were carried out in other districts as part of the statewide drive. The inspections focused on the illegal sale and diversion of medicines with the potential for misuse, including alprazolam, nitrazepam, tramadol and tapentadol tablets, codeine-based cough syrups, pregabalin-containing formulations and zolpidem tablets. The drive is part of ongoing efforts to prevent the unauthorised sale of habit-forming medicines through retail pharmacies. Download the TOI App.
