“He was questioned by the police for two hours and was asked to furnish details related to it,” a police source said. The committee said the incidents indicated a pattern of inappropriate personal interactions, sexually suggestive conduct and unwelcome physical contact. The committee said his conduct created an intimidating, offensive and hostile environment for women students. Police said JNU forwarded the details to Vasant Kunj North station house officer. Dismissing the allegations, Akoijam posted on X on Oct 11 that JNU had “lied” that he did not produce any witness. He said the allegations against him were “politically motivated”.
JNU dismissed Akoijam after its internal committee examined allegations made by several students against the MP, who was a professor at the university. Download the TOI App.
