He left behind a suicide note in which he mentioned the names of a senior bank official, an employee and three others, according to police. The deceased worked as deputy manager in the gold loan department at Bandhan Bank’s Govind Nagar branch. The case was registered on a complaint filed by the deceased’s brother-in-law, Ram Krishna Bhattacharya. In the complaint, Bhattacharya alleged that the accused had fraudulently obtained a personal loan in the deceased’s name and later accused him of involvement in corruption. He claimed that his brother-in-law was repeatedly harassed despite being innocent, which possibly led him to take the extreme step. Police registered the case under provisions related to abetment of suicide, criminal breach of trust and intentional insult. The deceased had been living in a rented room in M Block, Kidwai Nagar, for the past two years. In the messages, he alleged harassment by the accused over corruption allegations, which he denied. His wife replied to the messages but, after receiving no response, alerted family members. She also called a bank employee and asked him to check on her husband. The employee reached the house but found the room locked from inside. After getting no response, he informed the family and police. In the presence of family members and a forensic team, police opened the door and found the manager hanging from a ceiling fan. The deceased is survived by his wife and three children.
