Lucknow: A 40-year-old woman was allegedly strangled by her husband during a domestic dispute in Mohanlalganj area of Lucknow. The accused husband, Rakesh , has been taken into custody for questioning.
Police received information about the incident around 1.30am on the intervening night of Oct 15.
Prabhat Gautam, his father had consumed alcohol before an argument broke out between his parents that night, according to the deceased’s son. He said he had not witnessed the entire incident himself, adding that his younger brother had seen part of what happened. Preliminary probe suggest that Rakesh was drunk when he had an argument with his wife Rekha Devi and strangled her. The couple has five children. A police team reached the spot and inspected the scene with the assistance of forensic experts to collect evidence. The body was subsequently sent for the postmortem examination. Police are in the process of registering a case under the relevant sections of law on the basis of a complaint by Prabhat.
