Blizzard Entertainment has shared the details about the upcoming Season 2 mid-season update for World of Warcraft: Midnight. The 12.1.5 content release introduces The Unbinding of Kith’ix, a single-boss raid with Story Mode and Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties. Players can also explore the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan, a Delve-like adventure with nine chambers, and join new Aqir Invasion public events across Eversong and Zul’Aman. The update also introduces Ascendant Venomstones to upgrade eligible equipment, along with additional rewards and progression opportunities for players advancing through Season 2. World of Warcraft Midnight Season 2 update: What’s new The latest Midnight update expands Season 2 with new activities for all types of players, from solo players seeking challenges to groups taking on Mythic content. The raid offers Story Mode, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulty options. On Mythic difficulty, players can challenge the Kith’ix with a flexible group of 15 to 25. The entrance is located north of Amani Pass in Eversong Woods. The update will also introduce a Tier 11 solo challenge, giving players another option to test their characters without relying on a group. Season 2 mid-season refresh: Ascendant Venomstones and gear upgrades The mid-season refresh will introduce additional character progression options through Nebulous Voidcores and Ascendant Venomstones. During the week of October 6, Orin Straylight in Silvermoon City will begin offering one additional Nebulous Voidcore per week for bonus loot rolls. Each event will run for 10 minutes every hour, with players completing a sequence of objectives before facing a boss encounter. The update will bring new raid content, Mythic+ challenges, gear upgrades, solo activities, and story progression, giving players several ways to keep advancing through Season 2.
Players must complete the quests “In the Catalyst’s Shadow” and “Prismatic Potential” to begin. Completing the subsequent “Umbral Blessings of the Catalyst” quest unlocks the option to exchange gold, Voidlight Marl, or Veteran Mistcrests for an additional weekly Nebulous Voidcore. Keystone Myth will return with the 12.1.5 content update, giving Mythic+ players another challenge during the second half of Season 2. The update will also include targeted dungeon tuning adjustments to address differences in dungeon difficulty. The Promise of Tomorrow: New story campaign The new story campaign, titled “The Promise of Tomorrow”, will continue the narrative following Ula’tek’s defeat. The latest update adds a new raid, a multi-chamber dungeon experience, more Mythic challenges, and a story campaign. The update includes a new raid, the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan, a refreshed progression system, a new story campaign and zone-wide public events. Blizzard is also adjusting dungeon difficulty as Keystone Myth returns for the second half of the season. The update gives players more ways to improve their characters and earn rewards. The Unbinding of Kith’ix: New single-boss raid The Unbinding of Kith’ix is a new single-boss raid set beneath the Venomous Abyss. After Ula’tek’s defeat, the restraints holding Kith’ix weaken, letting the ancient C’Thraxxi general emerge from its subterranean lair. Players will confront Kith’ix alongside Lady Liadrin in a battle connected to the ongoing story of Quel’Thalas and Zul’Aman. The encounter is intended to bring the campaign’s escalating threat to a decisive confrontation. Labyrinth of Kindo’jan: Nine chambers and new rewards The Labyrinth of Kindo’jan introduces a large-scale dungeon-like experience set inside an ancient Amani funeral complex. The location has reopened, attracting looters and Vilebranch while the spirits buried within defend the site. Valeera Sanguinar will accompany players as they explore the complex and take on its challenges. The Labyrinth features nine chambers, dedicated progression systems, and rewards including Mythic gear, cosmetics, and titles. Unlike a normal dungeon run, players can tackle the Labyrinth in a single sitting or one wing at a time. The more chambers you complete, the more treasure you will find, but also the more danger. To unlock the full Labyrinth, players must progress through the relevant questline, complete the Chamber of Rites and speak with Kinduru, the spirit guide. Players will return to Quel’Thalas and Zul’Aman as an uneasy peace develops between the two regions. The campaign will take players into the depths of the Coiled Isle before leading to a confrontation with Kith’ix, the ancient C’Thraxxi general. The raid and campaign connect through the growing threat of the creature’s return. Aqir Invasion: New outdoor public events The update will introduce Aqir Invasions, zone-wide public events taking place in Eversong or Zul’Aman. You use AI every day. Now get your AI Quotient. Take the AIQ test.
The events will feature six scenario types, split between three combat-focused and three non-combat activities. Combat scenarios can also include one of eight possible affixes that change how the encounters play out. These modifiers include Aqir enemies that burrow through the area, protective barriers created by Voidweavers, moving Void Spheres and enemies that explode after becoming infected by the Void. Other variations include swarms of smaller Aqir, stronger elite enemies, and Webweavers that can trap players if players don’t interrupt their channels. Players will be rewarded for completing as many objectives as possible within the event window.
Starting the week of October 20, players who complete “Ascending with Venomstones” can obtain the new upgrade currency. Ascendant Venomstones can drop from Heroic and Mythic raid bosses, Mythic+ Keystone dungeons at level 10 and above, Tier 11 Bountiful Delves, and Nightmare Prey Hunt Champion gear chests. Players can use 10 Ascendant Venomstones near the Catalyst in Silvermoon City to increase the item level of an eligible, fully upgraded Season 2 Hero or Myth item, or a maximum-quality Tidal Crafted weapon, trinket or necklace. The crest cap will also be lifted during the week of October 20. Keystone Myth returns in Season 2 Players will need to reach a Mythic+ rating of 3,600 to earn the “Midnight Keystone Myth: Season 2” achievement. Blizzard said it has considered current rating data and the rewards available during the season when setting the requirement.
Ascendant Venomstones will become available following another questline.
