Darius Slayton spent seven seasons with the New York Giants before they released him in early September 2026. As per Big Blue View’s Ed Valentine, Slayton suffered a knee injury that kept him out of Indianapolis’ lineup in Week 5. By mid-September, he found a new home with the Indianapolis Colts, where he reunited with former Giants teammate Daniel Jones. The Colts thought Slayton would fill in for injured wide receiver Alec Pierce, but it never happened.

The 29-year-old Auburn alum is now without a team. The 6-foot-1, 198-pounder Darius Slayton has recorded 296 receptions for 4,435 receiving yards [15.0 average] and 22 touchdowns playing for the New York Giants. And Xavier Worthy’s 2025 shoulder injury could pop up anytime now. However, Slayton could provide another experienced receiver for Dak Prescott, who was recently shamed for losing a Week 5 game to a rookie QB Jalon Daniels. The Tennessee Titans could be another NFL team to watch as they develop 2025 draft pick quarterback Cam Ward. Despite having them, the Titans are one of three teams with 0 wins and 5 losses. Right now, the Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, Dallas Cowboys, and Tennessee Titans are among the franchises worth monitoring, as they need wide receiver help. They could sign him. He established himself as a dependable deep threat. Whoever signs him may use his extensive experience and commendable downfield ability. He’s on the market, but usually in a midseason signing, the next team’s decision is already made or on the horizon. News of his signing could come any day now. The Kansas City Chiefs need wide receiver depth. Tyquan Thornton is suffering from a serious ankle injury. Rashee Rice is dealing with a hamstring injury. We hope it doesn’t. But why should the Chiefs take any chance? They are known for their dominating offense. Patrick Mahomes could get veteran assurance from Darius Slayton. New Orleans Saints? Rookie Jordyn Tyson is on injured reserve. Tyler Shough could have another passing option with Slayton’s addition. The former Giants WR’s experience could balance the receiving corps between established talent and young players. The New York Jets could consider adding Darius Slayton to strengthen alongside Garrett Wilson. Adonai Mitchell is dealing with a finger injury. No additional depth could prove useful. If the team determines its receiving corps needs reinforcement, then Slayton’s experience could come in handy. The Dallas Cowboys already have established targets in CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. Slayton could help, particularly if Dallas wants more depth in its passing attack. His familiarity with the New York Giants could also offer useful insight into a division rival for Jerry Jones’ team. Their wide receivers include Calvin Ridley, Wan’Dale Robinson, and rookie Carnell Tate. But it’s not showing any results. So,Slayton could be that veteran presence and serious threat on rotation. He could also reunite with his former New York Giants head coach, Brian Daboll, in Tennessee, where Daboll is currently the offensive coordinator. For now, Slayton’s potential destination remains a mystery. His knee injury could heavily influence his signing. Any interested franchise may need to assess his health before addressing their own receiving corps issues. Get the latest Sports News and Live updates. Download the TOI app.
