A crocodile that entered a resident’s house in Banpurwa village under the Katarniaghat Wildlife Division in Bahraich was safely rescued by the forest department
The department has urged residents to exercise caution near rivers, ponds and waterlogged areas, particularly in locations where crocodile movement has been reported.
The forest department said crocodiles may increasingly be spotted near residential areas as water levels recede after the monsoon. During periods of rising water levels and flooding, the reptiles can move into villages from their usual aquatic habitats, bringing them into closer proximity with human settlements. People have been advised to immediately inform the forest department if they spot a crocodile near their homes or in residential areas.
