Speaking to reporters here, Joshi said the SIT probe should be conducted under the supervision of a judge to bring out the truth. Joshi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s govt was steadfastly pro-farmer and would continue procuring various crops at minimum support prices (MSP) even during challenging times. ethanol produced from other sources could not be purchased entirely, he said While all sugarcane-based ethanol was being procured. He said the committee was ready to visit within four to five days and submit its report if farmers cooperated, adding that it would function independently and without govt interference.
Joshi urged the chief minister to announce a State Advised Price (SAP) for sugarcane and end malpractices involving weighing discrepancies and sugar recovery calculations. He assured full support from the Centre to state authorities and called for an early announcement.
