Days later, the vehicle was allegedly tracked to northeast Delhi’s Dilshad Garden and stolen within minutes after being parked, police said Saturday. New Delhi: A man allegedly sold his car but retained a way to track and access it using a concealed GPS device and a third key that was never handed over to the buyer.
The stolen vehicle and Rs 89,500 in cash have been recovered. Investigators analysed footage from over 100 CCTV cameras and examined the vehicle’s FASTag records. The car was eventually traced to Sonipat, where police found that its registered owner, Yogesh Dahiya, had sold it to the complainant on Oct 8 and lived in the same area. Police raided Dahiya’s house on Oct 14. A bag belonging to the complainant containing Rs 2 lakh was also found inside the car, and Rohilla allegedly received Rs 75,000 as his share of the stolen money.
The case came to light after the complainant reported the theft.
Police said Rohilla allegedly concealed the vehicle to avoid detection. Police have arrested two men, including the car’s registered owner, for allegedly orchestrating the theft. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to conspiring with an associate, Sahil Rohilla, to sell the vehicle and later steal it back.
