Davanagere : Former chief minister BS Yediyurappa on Sunday expressed confidence that BJP-JDS alliance candidate KM Suresh would win South-East Graduates’ constituency of the legislative council by a huge margin in the first round.

Addressing a BJP election campaign meeting at Shamanur Shivashankarappa Community Hall, Yediyurappa said MP GM Siddeshwar had gone to Bengaluru for unavoidable reasons and his absence should not be misunderstood. “The election will reflect public anger against the corrupt, anti-people and anti-farmer Congress govt,” he said, urging voters to teach Congress a lesson. Yediyurappa alleged that the Congress govt had failed in drought management, law and order, employment generation and development, besides not fulfilling several pre-poll promises. MP Govind Karjol alleged that Congress, despite ruling for most of the post-Independence period, was targeting constitutional institutions, including Election Commission and judiciary. He also accused Congress of keeping Dalits and minorities in fear and using them as a vote bank. Karjol urged voters to support BJP candidates in the four legislative council elections, strengthen BY Vijayendra’s leadership and empower Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
