Bengaluru: A month-old dispute over blocking a motorcycle and allegedly passing comments on a girl are suspected to have led to the murder of a 13-year-old boy, whose body was found on the premises of Vibhuthipura Lake on Oct 12. The next day, around 2.30pm, Attaulla received a call from his friend, saying Arfath has been murdered and his body was found in Vibhuthipura Lake. The juveniles, aged 16 and 17, have been arrested.

“The deceased’s father claims his son was studying, but we learnt that Arfath and the juveniles were school dropouts,” a senior officer said. HAL police have arrested two juveniles in connection with the murder. The deceased, Mohammed Arfath, was a resident of Ramesh Nagar. Based on Arfath’s father Attaulla’s complaint, police registered a murder case after noticing assault marks on his body. Police had already shifted the body to the mortuary. Police learnt that one of the accused had a dispute with Arfath a month ago after an argument over a motorcycle being blocked by the deceased and his elder brother when the accused juvenile was taking his sister to tuition. When Arfath went near the lake, the two juveniles attacked him with a stone and smashed his head.

Arfath was a Class 7 student at a private school. He left his home around 5.30pm on Oct 11 and did not return. Attaulla, an autorickshaw driver, initially assumed the boy was with friends as he often returned home late. However, when Arfath remained missing the following morning, the family began searching for him.
