Citizens in Gadag-Betgeri twin city responded to the e-waste collection campaign by giving out their unused e-waste items throughout the week

Shridhar Sultanpur, event chairperson, said the drive was launched to mark International E-Waste Day, observed on Oct 14, and concluded on Oct 17.
“The collected e-waste will be handed over to a registered vendor for scientific disposal,” he said. Rotary Club office-bearers Dr Pradeep S Ugalat, Akshay Shetty and Suresh Kumbar said the initiative aimed to discourage people from dumping electronic waste in open spaces and promote environmental protection and resource conservation. Inner Wheel Club office-bearers Manjula Akki, Prema Gulagoudar and Veena Kaveri said volunteers collected e-waste from the doorsteps of interested residents. YRC coordinator Chandalingayya Hallikeri said mixing e-waste with general waste posed an environmental hazard and the campaign helped spread awareness about reuse and recycling, especially among youngsters.
