New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta Tuesday called upon people to stand united against social evil and anti-national elements and follow the ideals of Lord Ram.
This festival celebrates the victory of righteousness and justice over unrighteousness and injustice,” she said, according to an ANI report. The chief minister said Lord Ram was not merely a deity to be worshipped but also an ideal figure whose teachings should guide people. Referring to Lord Ram’s victory over Ravana, the chief minister said the latter had symbolised evil for centuries, but several forms of evil have continued to exist in modern society and they need to be eradicated. Corruption, addiction, crime, social discrimination, atrocities against women and hatred remained major challenges, she said. Vijayadashami is also a reminder that truth ultimately triumphs over falsehood, righteousness over unrighteousness and justice over injustice, she said.
President Droupadi Murmu attended the Vijayadashami celebration as the chief guest. “I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to everyone. I offer my warm Dussehra greetings to all my fellow countrymen. These can be overcome only when people embrace Lord Ram’s ideals, the chief minister added.
Addressing Vijayadashami celebrations at Sector 10 in Dwarka, Gupta said: “Hatred must be eliminated and the lamp of love must be lit to build a brighter future for the country. People should stand united against the evils prevalent in society and teach anti-national elements a lesson. All Indians must work together for the country’s progress and a brighter future.”
