The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Hyderabad: Aerospace and defence player Sigma Advanced Systems Limited on Wednesday informed the bourses that it has secured US$19.7 million (around ₹174 crore) from a North American customer that caters to the NATO defence ecosystem for specialised ancillary subsystems used in 155 mm artillery ammunition.

Sigma has recently also won contracts and collaborations covering filled fuzes, M107 shell bodies, advanced base-bleed shell bodies and course-correction fuze technologies.

The latest order moves the company further beyond standalone component supply toward a broader role in ammunition manufacturing and engineering, it said. Sigma said the global demand for artillery ammunition has risen sharply amid the Russia-Ukraine war, prompting NATO members and allied govts to focus on replenishing inventories, increasing procurement and expanding production capacity.

The company said the order will be executed by the second quarter of 2027, with manufacturing carried out within the Sigma ecosystem. This marks Sigma’s fifth 155 mm-related engagement since May 2026 and adds another product category to its expanding artillery ammunition portfolio, the Hyderabad-based company said.

The company expects its wider 155 mm portfolio to help it pursue adjacent opportunities, subject to qualifications, customer requirements and commercial terms.

Sigma said ancillary subsystems and fuze integration require deeper engineering capabilities, including interface coordination, performance management, process control and quality assurance. Sunil Kalidindi, CEO, Sigma Advanced Systems, said defence customers were seeking partners able to support complex manufacturing requirements at scale. He said the order strengthens Sigma’s role in international defence manufacturing and the wider ammunition ecosystem.
