Nagpur: Days after they were released on bail, three accused in a 2024 murder case and two others allegedly attacked a key witness near his house in Kaikadi Nagar in Beltarodi.
Complainant Lal Singh Patel (27) told Beltarodi police that he was a witness in the murder of Dilip Shahu in 2024. Om Prakash Papade (29), Piyush Lilhare (22) and Akash Lilhare (24) were among those arrested in the case. As per the FIR, the trio, along with Gajanan Suryavanshi (27) and Sanjay Verma (23), abused Patel near his house around 10.30pm on Monday.

After securing bail about six months ago, they allegedly began abusing Patel, said police. Om Prakash allegedly tried to slash his neck with a sharp weapon, said police. They also hit him on the head and back with a wooden stick. Patel sustained a cut on a finger of his right hand. The accused then brandished swords and warned local residents against intervening in the matter. Beltarodi police have registered a case. Download the TOI App.
