The 28-year-old man was the child’s neighbour and lured her with pasta before committing the crime. Muzaffarnagar : A special Pocso court in UP’s Firozabad has sentenced a man to rigorous life imprisonment for raping a five-year-old girl.
Additional district govt counsel (ADGC), Awdhesh Bhardwaj, said, “On the morning of June 13 this year, the five-year-old was playing outside her house when the convict approached her and took her to his house. Judge Mumtaz Ali convicted the man under BNS section 65 (2) (rape of a girl below 12) and sections 5 (m)/6 of the Pocso Act . The court concluded the trial within a span of 96 days.

During the trial, the child, who had to be brought to the witness stand in her mother’s lap, pointed towards her private parts and said that “the neighbour hurt her”. She also told the convict’s name. Dismissing the defence’s plea for “leniency”, the court on Wednesday sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for remainder of his natural life under both the provisions, with the sentences to run concurrently.
Once inside, he brutally assaulted her. The traumatised child returned home crying. Her mother noticed blood and swelling in her private parts, prompting the family to file a police complaint. Soon after, he was arrested and sent to jail. Download the TOI App.
