Navi Mumbai International Airport has recently added nine new domestic destinations to enhance its connectivity
Since the launch of commercial operations on December 25 last year, the airport has handled 35,88,675 passengers, including 35,80,233 domestic and 8,442 international passengers, news agency PTI repoorted. The airport also recorded 27,185 scheduled aircraft movements, comprising 27,111 domestic and 74 international movements. It handled 493 cargo movements, including 461 international movements. Additionally, NMIA recorded 961 general aviation movements, including 952 domestic and nine international movements, along with 77 other movements. The airport registered 18,01,377 departures and 17,87,298 arrivals, NMIA said. NMIA also said that less than three months after commencing international cargo operations, it had witnessed freighter activity involving 18 airlines serving 45 destinations. Within 10 months of commencing operations, the airport has expanded its network, added destinations and connected with a growing number of passengers, it said.
The new routes connect the Mumbai Metropolitan Region with island, coastal, heritage, wildlife, cultural and eco-tourism destinations across western, northern, eastern and northeastern India, besides expanding access to regional markets, PTI reported.
The nine destinations are Agatti via Goa-MOPA, Darbhanga, Guwahati, Jalgaon, Jodhpur, Ranchi, Bagdogra, Sindhudurg and Udaipur, NMIA said.
