Bengaluru: Election Commission will add 8.4 lakh voters to the electoral roll in the state during the special intensive revision (SIR), more than the 7.9 lakh claims and objections filed by the Sept 23 deadline, data accessed by TOI Thursday, the last day for disposal of claims and objections, showed. The final roll will be published on Oct 27, as per the schedule. Officials said 45,000-50,000 of them are likely to be dropped from the final list, as most are dead or duplicate entries. Claims and objections were invited between Aug 24 and Sept 23, after the draft list was published. No data was shared on how many deletions took place through Form 7, which is used to object to proposed inclusions or seek deletions. Kumar said only Form 7 applications filed for self or family members were processed. The CEO office said all Form 7 applications received up to Sept 23 were cleared on a priority basis. Form 7 applications stood at 58,220 on Sept 23 and have since risen to 2.3 lakh. Officials said 80% of them were auto-generated by Form 8 requests, which are used to change residence or correct entries. Simultaneously, a Form 7 is generated for deletion from the previous location,” an official said. Form 8 applications went up from 11 lakh on Sept 23 to 13.1 lakh. Between June 16 and Oct 22, the CEO office received 25.9 lakh applications in all, including 10.4 lakh Form 6 and 4,840 Form 6A. About 73 lakh Form 6, 7 and 8 applications filed before the rolls were frozen on June 16 were processed and included in the Aug 24 draft list. Hearings are over for all notices issued to electors, the chief electoral officer’s office said Friday. “A total of 43,82,824 notices have been generated and delivered, and hearings have been completed across the state,” its statement said. CEO Anbu Kumar said forms received after the deadline were accommodated as far as possible. “While we cannot say the exact date, we extended the deadline for accepting all forms and tried to accommodate as many as possible,” he said. Enrolment and correction of entries are continuous processes, the CEO office said.

The notices were sent to electors whose names fell under the no-mapping and anomalies categories. Bulk applications were disposed of at the entry level, so electoral registration officers issued no notices on them. “When a voter seeks change of location, the new location processes the request. Voters can apply online through the ECINET app or the voters.eci.gov.in portal, or offline at the offices of booth-level officers, assistant electoral registration officers or electoral registration officers.
