Bareilly : An alleged heroin-manufacturing unit operating from a house in Ramnagar block of Bareilly’s Aonla area was busted Thursday night, with the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) seizing around 4.5kg heroin, chemicals and equipment used in manufacturing the drug. Three people, including a father and son, were arrested, police said on Friday.
The seizure was made in the presence of Mirganj circle officer Ajay Kumar, and an FIR was registered at Sirauli police station under the NDPS Act, 1985.
Yadav said heroin was allegedly being manufactured from morphine in one of the rooms. The accused had allegedly deleted data from their phones, and ANTF teams are using technical analysis and surveillance to trace their contacts, police said. Police said Rambharosa was the stepbrother of former Ramnagar block pramukh Shripal Lodhi and an active political worker.
Acting on a tip-off, an ANTF team led by in-charge Vikas Yadav raided Rambharosa’s house around 9pm. Rambharosa, his son Viresh and their relative Brijesh, a resident of a neighbouring village, were arrested. A preliminary investigation suggested that the accused were in contact with traffickers in Jharkhand through the Jungi app, allegedly used to arrange the supply of chemicals. Police are investigating the source of the chemicals and the intended destination of the heroin. Police suspect others may be involved, though their roles will be established during the investigation.
