Agra teen killed after failed rape bid; accused held in encounter

Meerut: Amid an intensifying personal and legal dispute between Uttarakhand minister for child development and women empowerment Rekha Arya and her husband Girdhari Lal Sahu, Bareilly Development Authority (BDA) revealed that a farmhouse — allegedly linked to Arya — in Lalpur village along the Bareilly-Sitapur highway in UP was constructed without an approved map.

On Oct 15, Arya lodged an FIR against Sahu accusing him of physical assault, harassment, cheating, forgery, caste-based abuse under the SC/ST Act, concealing a prior marriage, and conspiring to murder her, citing a purportedly recorded audio clip of him detailing a plot on her life. Sahu denied all allegations, dismissing the audio clip as an AI-generated fabrication, and countered by urging Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to order a probe into Arya for allegedly amassing ₹210 crore in illegal assets.

It is said that Arya and her nephew Satendra Rathore previously served as directors of the company that owns the farmhouse. Locals said Arya stayed at this farmhouse during her visits to Bareilly. The administrative probe unfolds against the backdrop of severe criminal and financial allegations exchanged between the couple.
