Bengaluru: State-owned Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has increased accident insurance compensation for its employees holding salary accounts with Union Bank of India from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore. Under the agreement between BMTC and Union Bank of India, nominees will receive Rs 1 crore if an employee dies in an accident. For death from natural or other causes, employees earning below Rs 25,000 a month will receive Rs 5 lakh, while those earning above Rs 25,000 will get Rs 10 lakh.
Employees with permanent partial or total disability will receive insurance coverage of Rs 1 crore. Those earning below Rs 25,000 monthly will also receive Rs 4 lakh through RuPay platinum debit card, while employees earning above Rs 25,000 will receive Rs 15 lakh. Employees will also be eligible for medical assistance of up to Rs 30,000 annually for inpatient hospital treatment.
