The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Kanpur: Two men were seriously injured in a clash over alleged witchcraft in Naurangabad, Etawah district, on Saturday morning, a day before a family wedding procession.

The clash occurred around 10 am while the family was preparing for Hasan’s wedding procession, which was scheduled to leave for Khwaja Road on Sunday.

One of the victims, Gayasuddin alias Khalifa, who lived at his in-laws’ house, alleged that witchcraft was being practised on his wife, according to police. In his statement to police, Hasan said Gayasuddin had been quarrelling with other family members and that he was stabbed when he tried to intervene. Police later detained the groom, Hasan, for questioning. Police reached the scene after being informed and are investigating the circumstances that led to the clash.

On Saturday, he had a heated exchange with his brother-in-law, Hasan, and other family members over the issue, following which both men allegedly attacked each other with knives.
