New Delhi: A student-led campaign seeking a third attempt at the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced has urged the ministry of education and Joint Admission Board (JAB) to revisit the eligibility criteria, arguing that the current policy does not adequately account for the demands of regular schooling following the crackdown on dummy schools.
It has also launched a nationwide petition seeking an additional attempt and appealed to the ministry and JAB to consider the proposal.
Complying with attendance requirements can make it difficult for students to devote sufficient time to JEE Advanced preparation, particularly for those without access to intensive coaching, according to the movement. JEE Advanced offers a significantly narrower opportunity window, it said While JEE Main allows candidates to appear over three consecutive years with two sessions annually. It contended that allowing a third attempt would effectively give candidates two full years to prepare after completing school. The movement argued that the current two-attempt limit leaves little room for candidates affected by circumstances such as medical emergencies, accidents or disruptions during preparation.
