Varanasi: Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav will sound the party’s 2027 poll bugle in Purvanchal (east UP) by addressing a public meeting at Sajoi in Varanasi’s Sevapuri assembly segment on Oct 31, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Lakkad said the party has intensified its efforts, with a target of mobilising more than five lakh participants from Varanasi and adjoining areas. They said booth, block and assembly-level units would play a crucial role in ensuring smooth arrangements and large participation. SP district president Sujit Yadav Lakkad, Chandauli MP Virendra Singh, former minister Surendra Patel and other senior functionaries held discussions, focusing on venue arrangements, crowd mobilisation, organisational coordination and the distribution of responsibilities among leaders and workers. UP state secretary Vishnu Sharma ‘Vishwakarma’ urged workers to coordinate with one another and complete their assigned tasks on time.
To intensify preparations for the proposed event, SP functionaries held a meeting in Alauddinpur on Monday and called upon party workers and supporters to leave no stone unturned to make it a mega show of strength.
Sharma stressed that active participation and communication within the organisation were essential for managing a programme of this scale. Leaders were asked to remain in touch with supporters in their respective areas and push preparations forward.
