Pune: Chandannagar police have registered a case of assault and mischief against three men from Kharadi travelling in a luxury car for allegedly assaulting a 34-year-old car driver, also from Kharadi, around 11.30pm on Saturday. Police detained the suspects and later released them. Senior inspector Ashwini Jagtap said the incident was a case of road rage and that the complainant and the suspects did not know each other. “We have served notices to the occupants and the driver of the luxury car to cooperate with the investigation,” she said. “The driver of the luxury car works as a manager at a private multinational bank, while the other two men are employed at a prominent laboratory in the city,” she added. The complainant, a techie, was driving home from work when the luxury car approached from the opposite direction, according to the police. “The road in Sant Tukaramnagar is narrow, and the luxury car was travelling at high speed before braking in front of the techie’s car,” Jagtap said. “They also exchanged abuses,” she said. The driver of the luxury car punched the rear windshield of the techie’s car and shattered it,” Jagtap said. After being discharged, he lodged a complaint with the police,” Jagtap said.
The techie objected to the luxury car driver’s high-speed driving, triggering an argument between the two. “The bank manager got out of his car, along with his two friends.
