Varanasi: Three people, including a woman, were injured in a firing incident following a dispute between two families in Nayepura Nevada Kalan village under Bhadohi Kotwali on Tuesday morning.
Police said the two sides had also clashed around 15 to 16 days ago, following which a case was registered in this case.
Agarwal said police are conducting a detailed investigation, and further legal action is underway. The dispute is suspected to stem from an old rivalry between the two families. About a year ago, a boy and a girl from the families had allegedly eloped, triggering prolonged tension.
Additional SP Shubham Agarwal said police received information around 5.30am that one Randhir Singh and his wife Babita was assaulted by Ravindra Singh and his family members. A preliminary investigation revealed that members of Ravindra’s family allegedly dragged and assaulted members of Randhir’s family, leaving them seriously injured. The station in-charge and circle officer reached the spot to take stock. Police rushed the injured to hospital.
