A 63-year-old retired bank manager approached Chandkheda police: The wider industry impact

Ahmedabad: A 63-year-old retired bank manager approached Chandkheda police, alleging that a stock trader cheated him of Rs 37.8 lakh by promising high returns on investments. He alleged that he invested Rs 46 lakh with the trader between Dec 2025 and Jan 2026 but received only Rs 8.2 lakh back.

He later transferred funds through bank transfers, cheques, RTGS, NEFT, IMPS and UPI, bringing the total investment to Rs 46 lakh. The complaint states that two other cheques worth Rs 10 lakh each have already led to legal proceedings initiated through a lawyer. These were returned due to insufficient funds, according to the complaint.

The trader had issued several cheques towards repayment, including five that the senior citizen deposited in the bank.
