The former director at Meta Superintelligence Labs has launched Ndoc, a startup he is positioning as an AI alternative to Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, according to a TechCrunch report.

Colleagues can access the shared workspace even without signing up for Ndoc, according to Patel. Meta AI director Rohit Patel is leaving the company after eight years. He aims to bring analysis, presentations, and underlying data into one workspace, eliminating the need to switch between separate apps.

When will Ndoc be available

Patel said his wish to make Ndoc’s document format openly available was partly behind his decision to leave. He believed securing agreement on such a format within Meta would involve input from many people and slow development. Patel hopes to release a broader beta version in the coming weeks, with a full launch planned for next year. The company has also built connections to existing workplace tools so customers can import their data.

Ndoc can export documents as a single “.ndoc.html” file that opens in a browser, according to Patel. He plans to open-source the format so other developers can build compatible applications and users can access their work without depending entirely on Ndoc.
