RPF said CCTV footage corroborated that Milan was involved in the theft. These batteries were stolen from Byappanahalli railway station. Milan, an autorickshaw driver, and his acquaintance Ganesh allegedly stole the heavy batteries which were kept behind the senior section engineer’s (SSE) office at Byappanahalli. Once the missing batteries were detected, a joint team of RPF’s crime intelligence branch (CIB) sprang into action. They intercepted an autorickshaw and detained its driver Milan. The rickshaw was used to transport the stolen property. During inquiry, Milan disclosed the involvement of his acquaintance Ganesh, who stole railway batteries on three occasions with him within a week. After stealing, the loot was transported to local scrap dealers in exchange for money. RPF conducted searches at two scrap shops in Maruthi Sevanagar and Nagashettyhalli. However, Ganesh is still absconding. Download the TOI App.
