The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Bengaluru : City police have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly recorded a video of a 31-year-old woman commuter inside a moving Metro train in Whitefield Tuesday evening.

“The incident took place around 4.15pm. He was around 5.5 feet in height, wore blue jeans, brown t-shirt and sported a white cap.

Complainant R Sowpika, a private company employee from Kadugodi, said she noticed the stranger recording her video on his mobile while commuting between Kundalahalli and Hopefarm Metro stations. Through his illegal act, the man has violated my privacy and caused mental trauma,” Sowpika stated in her complaint. Sowpika gives him the phone, asking him to unlock it. But the man refuses and quickly drops the phone into his pocket and flees. Accompanied by Metro staff, the woman visited the jurisdictional Kadugodi police station where she registered an FIR Tuesday night. Later, Sowpika posted another video, thanking Kadugodi police. “Police were very kind and helpful. I request women facing such issues to approach police and register complaints.”

“We have booked the suspect under section 78 (Stalking).

Santosh has switched off his mobile and is unresponsive, according to police. We think his advocates will approach us soon,” a senior police officer said. The punishment under this section is imprisonment up to three years and fine,” a police officer said.

Kadugodi police identified the suspect as Santosh T, a senior software engineer at a private tech firm in Mahadevapura and a resident of Nagarabavi. “Different police teams visited his office as well as house, but he was not available.
