With Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) about three weeks away, one question is on every PS5 owner’s mind: how much space do I need? The latest claim comes from the X account @PlaystationSize, which says the game will take up 210 GB on PS5. As per a post by @PlaystationSize, GTA 6 download size is going to be 210 GB. GTA 5 takes up around 95 GB on PS5, while the Enhanced PC version asks for 105 GB. By comparison, GTA 5 occupied roughly 17 GB on Xbox 360 when it first launched in 2013. A leaker said the development build used in leaked gameplay clips is over 200 GB, but the retail download could be smaller once Rockstar trims the extra data. GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preloading starting on November 12. GTA 6’s physical edition is expected to be a box containing only a download code. A 210 GB game wouldn’t fit on one disc anyway.
A development build isn’t the same as the version you’ll download, so don’t treat it as a confirmed retail size. If the number holds, the game would be more than double the size of its predecessor. That growth reflects how much bigger and more detailed modern open worlds have become. That gives you a week to download the game before it unlocks. A file this big can take hours on a slower connection, so start the preload as soon as it opens and use a wired Ethernet connection if you can.
