New Delhi: The Coordination Committee of All District Court Bar Associations of Delhi called off its indefinite strike in Delhi’s lower courts following the transfer of two police officers for allegedly assaulting lawyers at Shahdara police station on Oct 23.
The committee also demanded immediate and effective steps to apprehend the accused, named in FIR 248/2026, at Shahdara police station, warning that lawyers would pursue legal steps. Following a meeting between the lawyers and Delhi Police , an ACP was moved to the Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC), while an SHO was transferred to the security unit. However, the lawyers reiterated their other demands, including completion of an inquiry into complaints lodged by the Shahdara Bar Association against the erring police officers within two months. It also demanded that the investigation into the FIR against advocates at Shahdara police station be completed in a week.
Dhir Singh Kasana, former secretary-general of the Saket Court bar association, added: “Both the implicated officers have been transferred following our protest, and now the judicial work will resume from tomorrow.
