New Delhi: The city recorded the fourth poor day of the month as the air quality index (AQI) worsened to 229 Wednesday. Relief, however, is likely as Delhi is expected to see rain Thursday and Friday.
Central Pollution Control Board’s data shows that Delhi recorded a three-day streak of poor air days from Oct 21 to 23. Graded Response Action Plan’s stage I was imposed on Oct 21. However, after winds picked up and rain hit the city, the air quality remained moderate for four days from Oct 24 to 27. The maximum temperature Wednesday was 31.8 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal. It is likely to stay between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius Thursday and 27-29 degrees Celsius Friday. The minimum temperature, which dipped to the season’s lowest at 15.3 degrees Celsius Tuesday, rose marginally to 15.7 degrees Celsius at base station Safdarjung and is likely to rise over the next two days. At 14.8 degrees Celsius, Aya Nagar in southwest Delhi recorded the lowest minimum temperature.
