Lucknow : The SGPGIMS will allocate Rs 4 crore annually to support research projects by medical residents, with the institute’s governing body approving a new grant scheme to fund up to 200 MD, MS, DM and MCh dissertation projects every year.
The idea is to build a stronger research culture at the institute by giving residents financial support to pursue their dissertation projects,” executive registrar Col Varun Bajpai said. “The initiative aims to encourage prospective research, moving residents beyond studies based largely on existing patient records.
Under the Institutional Small Research Grant Scheme, each approved project will receive up to Rs 2 lakh to support laboratory investigations, biomarker studies, imaging, consumables and molecular assays.
