Pavan Kumar was arrested by the Saidabad police on Oct 19 on a complaint by a 22-year-old engineering student. The complainant alleged that Pavan had extorted nearly Rs 4 lakh since 2024 by threatening to circulate his private videos online. Using social media chats, he blackmailed my husband and extorted about Rs 10 lakh from him. On her complaint, the Khairatabad police had registered a cheating and extortion case on Oct 20. On Oct 26, Saidabad police took Pavan into three-day custody from Chanchalguda prison. He chatted with over 1,000 people from across India and stored private videos and photos of 82 of them. The case was booked on Oct 26 based on the complaint of an HR manager of the private finance company where Pavan had worked in 2023. The complainant alleged that Pavan had borrowed Rs 35,000 from the company and quit the job after paying only a part of it in 2023. He quit without informing us and did not repay the balance amount of Rs 16,333,” the complainant alleged.
The amount was frozen,” Saidabad inspector B Chandra Mohan said. He was remanded in judicial custody. Subsequently, a woman alleged that Pavan had deceived her husband by posing as a woman, Chandana, on social media. “Pavan misled my husband by assuring him that he would arrange his marriage with Chandana. Pavan also prevented my husband from meeting the family,” the complainant alleged. During the custody, police confronted him about the people he had cheated. “He was chatting with men posing as a woman on different social media platforms. Using the photos, he was blackmailing and extorting people. Meanwhile, one more cheating case was registered against Pavan at the Saifabad police station. “Pavan deceived us by falsely stating that his father was unwell and obtained money.
After the conclusion of custody, Saidabad police produced him before a court on Thursday and he was remanded back to judicial custody.
