Madurai: Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief coordinator Seeman on Thursday announced that he would contest the Ambasamudram Assembly bypoll.
He also criticised the TVK government’s gold-ring scheme for newborns, saying public hospitals needed modern facilities instead.
Seeman said NTK would begin campaigning in Palayamkottai on November 26, marking LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran’s birthday, followed by a public meeting in Ambasamudram on November 27.
Asked whether he would be the opposition’s common candidate, Seeman said, “The very idea of a common candidate is wrong. Speaking after appearing before a Tirunelveli court, he said NTK would contest all five upcoming bypolls regardless of other parties’ decisions. I am not a common candidate just in Ambasamudram. I have always been a common candidate. I am the Naam Tamilar Katchi’s common candidate for all communities, all religions and all living beings.
