On Oct 17, Angamaly judicial first-class magistrate court dismissed the bail pleas of the four accused. Additional district and sessions court, Ernakulam, also rejected their pleas on Oct 28. Both the petitioners stated in the petitions that they have been in judicial custody since Oct 11 and that their continued detention would seriously affect their education and future prospects.

Kochi : Suhail Sajeev and Joel S Anto, the first and third accused in the Nedumbassery Mini Cooper accident that claimed the lives of three youngsters, including two women, have approached the high court seeking bail after two subordinate courts rejected their pleas. Following this, Suhail and Joel approached the HC. The primary objectives of custodial interrogation stand fully satisfied as police custody has lapsed, and all material evidence and digital exhibits are safely secured. Any theoretical apprehension of flight risk or evidence tampering can be comprehensively addressed through stringent bail conditions, they contended.
