Using the woman’s bank transaction details, police traced her location to Gahunje, where her body was subsequently found
Pune: A 34-year-old woman whose highly decomposed body was found in a housing society in Gahunje on Wednesday night rarely interacted with her neighbours and was living alone, Pimpri Chinchwad police said on Friday. When her family could not contact her after Oct 24, they approached one of her friends in UK and learned that she had left the country in Aug.
“The woman was living alone,” senior police inspector Devendra Chavan of the Shirgaon police told TOI . “The cause of her death can be ascertained after the chemical analysis report is received,” he said. The watchman told police that he occasionally saw the woman walking around the society premises. “He also told us that most of her visitors were delivery partners,” Chavan said.
Police recorded statements of the woman’s neighbours, domestic help and the society’s watchman. Her father then lodged a complaint with the Osmanpura police in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Using the woman’s bank transaction details, police traced her location to Gahunje, where her body was subsequently found.
