Chicken in Biriyani
Piyush Agarwal claimed that the restaurant — Taste of India in T1, between gates 16 and 17 — served him non-vegetarian food despite the bill clearly identifying the dish as vegetarian. Radhakrishnan confirmed that meat was found in the dish but said the reason for the mishap was yet to be ascertained.
“We request FSSAI, Bengaluru airport and the authorities concerned to urgently investigate, check order records, and take strict action,” he added. We are treating the matter with utmost seriousness and are conducting a thorough internal review to establish the facts and circumstances,” he told TOI . “We’re a strictly vegetarian family, and even the children unknowingly consumed it. This has caused severe distress and hurt our religious sentiments,” he wrote on X while attaching a video clip of the incident. In the clip, which has gone viral on social media, Piyush is seen complaining to the restaurant manager. He later clarified that he did not receive a fully non-vegetarian biryani, but it contained small bits of chicken. Agarwal stated that he was still asked to pay the full bill and no refund was issued by the restaurant. Kathhiravan Radhakrishnan, director of operations at HMSHost Services India Pvt Ltd, which operates the restaurant, stated that the matter was of grave concern. “We’re deeply concerned by the situation highlighted on social media and I definitely understand the distress it has caused. TOI also reached out to officials from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and Karnataka Food Safety and Drug Administration, but neither offered comments on the matter.
