Due to Thimmappa’s advanced age, Bangarappa said that instead of requiring him to travel to Bengaluru, govt will officially visit his residence to present the Rajyotsava Award. He said it will soon get cabinet approval and sent to the Centre, and fulfil Thimmappa’s long-standing dream by distributing title deeds soon. District minister Madhu Bangarappa visited Kagodu Thimmappa’s residence to congratulate him and then connected to CM DK Shivakumar via a video call. Speaking through minister Madhu Bangarappa’s phone, CM DK Shivakumar lauded Thimmappa’s exemplary political service and prayed for his good health. The CM noted that the veteran leader’s blessings are vital for everyone. Shivamogga: Former Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa, who was chosen for the Rajyotsava Award on Saturday, is learnt to have politely declined the offer to arrange a chopper for his travel to Bengaluru from Shivamogga to receive the award on Sunday.
Recognising that travelling to Bengaluru to receive the award might be difficult due to age-related health concerns, the chief minister asked if a helicopter arrangement should be made for transportation.
Kagodu Thimmappa politely declined, saying, “No need, I will manage to come somehow.”
