DCP (northwest) Akanksha Yadav said the girl’s mother had approached the police

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

New Delhi: Forover five hours, a three-year-old girl remained stranded in bushes on the other side of the railway tracks, unable to find her way home after wandering away while playing with her friends. As heavy rain lashed the area, the toddler was left alone in unfamiliar surroundings, separated from her family by the railway tracks. The anxious wait ended Friday when the child was traced and rescued following an extensive search by police personnel in north-west Delhi’s Bharat Nagar.

Police then launched a search operation, with teams scanning CCTV footage from surrounding areas to retrace the child’s movements.

DCP (northwest) Akanksha Yadav said the girl’s mother had approached the police after her daughter went missing in the morning. The difficult terrain and heavy rainfall further complicated her return, police said. The toddler was rescued unharmed, police said.

Police also used loudspeakers to call out to her and locate her. The search eventually led the team to the opposite side of the railway tracks, where the girl was stranded. She had apparently crossed the tracks while playing but was unable to make her way back.

After locating the child, the personnel brought her back safely and reunited her with her family, bringing an end to several hours of anxiety for her parents.
