BSP national convener Akash Anand addressed a public meeting in Nakur, Saharanpur on Monday

He said Congress and SP leaders had sought votes by carrying copies of the Constitution in the 2024 Lok Sabha campaign but had not raised people’s issues since.

Seeking votes for BSP’s Nakur candidate Naresh Kumar Saini, Anand said the three basic expectations from any govt—security, employment and education—had not been met by the BJP, and alleged the previous Samajwadi Party govt had also failed on these counts. On SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Anand described him as “confused” and mocked the PDA slogan, alleging its meaning kept changing. He also cited SP’s Rajya Sabha candidate Dhanraj Parimal Nathani, described as the son of a BJP MP, to counter allegations that BSP was BJP’s “B-team,” and referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent praise of Akhilesh Yadav in the Lok Sabha.

Targeting Congress, Anand alleged it was replicating BJP-style politics in states where it governs and claimed the party had historically disrespected Dr B R Ambedkar.
