Christened “Pink Line”, Metro Line 3 was built at a cost of over Rs8,300 crore. The 23km corridor would link the Hinjewadi IT hub with Shivajinagar. Pink Line would be operated entirely by women train operators, a first-of-its-kind initiative in gender-inclusive public transport. It comprises four lines that will expand the Metro network across residential, commercial and IT hubs. Line 2A will connect Vanaz to Chandni Chowk and Line 2B will connect Ramwadi to Vitthalwadi, extending the existing east-west Metro corridor. Together they will serve Kharadi, Magarpatta, Hadapsar, Swargate, Manikbaug, Nanded City, Pune Cantonment and Warje. The eastern extension from Ramwadi to Vitthalwadi will improve connectivity to the fast-growing residential, commercial and IT hubs of Kharadi and Wagholi. The new corridors will link with the existing Metro network and intercity bus services through interchange facilities at Swargate, Nal Stop and Kharadi Bypass. Download the TOI App.
