Hyderabad: Telangana police have opposed a dismissal of a (criminal revision) petition filed by Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and contended that the relief sought by the BRS leader was not maintainable under Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) provisions.

The case was initially registered against the legislator in Jan 2026 at Huzurabad police station in Karimnagar for allegedly obstructing police and making objectionable comments against Karimnagar police commissioner Gaush Alam. Because the magistrate’s order was procedural, investigative and interlocutory, and did not decide the guilt or substantive rights of the petitioner, opposing any relief to the petitioner MLA, police contended that the revision petition was not maintainable.

“Moreover, it is barred by BNSS provisions,” Nageshwar Rao added. The case has been transferred and is currently being probed by the CID . The matter was adjourned for further hearing. He further submitted to the court precedent apex court rulings in similar matters and urged it to dismiss the petition.

Public prosecutor Palle Nageshwar Rao on Thursday made this submission before a bench of Justice BR Madhusudhan Rao of Telangana high court on Thursday in response to a petition filed by Reddy seeking to suspend lower court orders allowing police to collect his voice samples as part of the investigation.

He urged high court to set aside the order issued by the judicial first class magistrate in June 2026. As a part of the investigation, police sought to collect Kaushik Reddy’s voice samples for forensic examination and comparison with audio and video samples collected during the investigation. The lower court allowed police’s request. Kaushik Reddy’s counsel contended that the court order was illegal as it was violative of his rights.
