Cab operators said higher fuel costs may hit bookings as customers turn more cautious about travel spending. “Higher fares could discourage some people from booking cabs, particularly for longer journeys,” said Paresh Thakker, treasurer, Gujarat Luxury Cab Owners Association. The hike comes just ahead of the festive season, a period when outstation travel and demand for private cab services increase. The hike has also narrowed the gap between CNG and petrol prices in Ahmedabad. Download the TOI App.
Ahmedabad: Adani Total Gas has increased CNG prices in Ahmedabad by Rs 2.30 per kg, pushing the fuel past the Rs 100 mark to Rs 100.77 per kg. The latest revision comes after a Rs 4.45 per kg hike in Oct, when prices rose from Rs 94.02 to Rs 98.47 per kg. The company had earlier raised rates by Rs 3.75 per kg in Aug.
The price revision will increase running costs for CNG-powered autorickshaws, taxis and other commercial vehicles. Drivers’ margins could come under pressure if they absorb the additional cost rather than pass it on through higher fares.
