Fired factory worker vandalises premises late at night

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Kanpur: A factory worker who was dismissed from his job on Wednesday allegedly returned to the premises late at night with six associates and vandalised property and abused staff at Rare Chem Industries’ Nirma factory in Purwamir village under Maharajpur police station in Kanpur.

Factory owner Dinkar Prabodh Saxena lodged a complaint, following which police launched an investigation.

Accused Kamal Tiwari, had worked as a labourer at the factory for about two months, according to police. Tiwari had earlier told police that he was pushed out and driven away by the factory management without being paid his dues. However, the factory owner denied the allegation and said the accused created a ruckus at the factory despite his dues having been cleared. Further action will be taken based on the facts that emerge during the investigation, police said.

Police are analysing CCTV footage and other evidence to establish the sequence of events. He was relieved of his duties on Wednesday after his accounts were settled.
