Kanye West sells Wyoming ranch for $17 million: Inside 6,713 acres of luxury, wilderness, and history

What happened?

We’re talking 6,713 acres tucked away in the Bighorn Mountains near Greybull, Wyoming. The sale went through for just shy of $17 million (about $16.995 million if you want to be exact). West purchased a 6,713-acre ranch known as Bighorn Mountain Ranch in Greybull, Wyoming, from David and Paula Flitner for $14.495 million in 2019, according to TMZ. Per the listing, the property sold for $16.995 million. The land stretches for more than 20 miles, filled with rolling hills, pine forests, open meadows, and steep canyons, according to its real estate listing by Hayden Outdoors. At any given time, you might spot up to 2,000 elk roaming between the property and the public lands that border it. Back in 2019, Ye made big moves in Wyoming: he bought both Bighorn Mountain Ranch and Monster Lake Ranch with dreams of something more: a creative headquarters, Yeezy brand production, new architecture, even affordable housing projects and self-sustaining communities. Per Cowboy State Daily’s October 2025 reporting, it was listed for about $12 million, but those details shouldn’t be confused with the sale of Bighorn Mountain Ranch. Bringing things full circle, Bighorn Mountain Ranch now returns to the Flitner family, the family that first established it in 1906 and knows the land better than anyone.

Wyoming local outlet Cowboy State Daily reported in October that Flitner’s son Greg and his wife, Pam Flitner, bought it back.

The sale was notarized in September in Zurich by Bianca Censori, West’s wife, according to Cowboy State Daily. That place, about 3,885 acres near Cody, was acquired in September 2019 and became the site of his “Yecosystem” idea: communal living, creative facilities, and such. Pam Flitner said the property popped up on the market briefly, almost as an accident, and they jumped at the chance.

Kanye West, or Ye as he now calls himself, just closed a massive chapter in his real estate story. He sold his gigantic Wyoming ranch (Bighorn Mountain Ranch) after owning it for years. This place is far more than just a house on a big lot. Now, the ranch is back in the hands of the Flitner family, who originally homesteaded the land over a hundred years ago. It’s like the property came full circle. What makes this ranch stand out isn’t just the size or the celebrity owner. Wildlife roams everywhere: thousands of elk, deer, and more. It’s practically a private nature reserve with a luxury twist. Lodges on the property are straight out of a catalog. The Lodge at Bald Ridge (Upper Hideout) features five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a wraparound deck, and a commercial-grade kitchen. The Snowshoe Lodge, with three bedrooms and three baths, covers three floors and packs in amenities like a walk-in sauna and a wet bar in the basement. Add in three guest cabins, a garage big enough for ATVs and vehicles, plus a historic Cow Camp cabin that keeps the old-school ranch vibes alive. And then there’s the access: most ranches don’t have two heated helicopter pads for year-round arrivals. The natural beauty of the ranch is almost overwhelming. Along with the lodges, the ranch hosts sparkling streams and creeks perfect for fishing. Hikers and hunters have endless trails, and cattle graze across the sweeping grasslands. White Creek promises good trout fishing if you’re the angling type. Per Architectural Digest, Ye wasn’t just after a vacation retreat. He spent time here working on his album ‘Donda’ and even called the ranch a place of healing and comfort. The plan was ambitious, but, in the end, most of those big ideas didn’t really pan out. After his split from Kim Kardashian and some big shifts in his life, Ye seemed less connected to the Wyoming vision. It’s worth noting he still owns Monster Lake Ranch. For the Flitners, getting the ranch back was a stroke of luck. Not much changed under Ye’s ownership anyway, as the lodges and cabins are mostly as they were, with some minor fixes and maintenance needed. You use AI every day. Now get your AI Quotient.
