Mangaluru: Shree Ambamaheshwari Seva Trust has suggested that the upcoming Karavali Utsava 2026 be organised in a simple manner considering the present situation of the district.
The trust members said they have already submitted letters to district minister UT Khader and Dakshina Kannada DC Darshan HV to hand over the responsibility to any selected organisations and thereby reduce the burden on govt at a time when the state is looking at drought conditions in the coming months.
Seetharam A, president of the trust, said that Karavali Utsav is an important event that celebrates the culture, art and traditions of our coastal region. However, he said that keeping this year’s celebrations simple would be more appropriate. This requires the attention of the district administration,” Seetharam said.
Since the event is organised under the leadership of the district administration, public funds will also be spent on it. We feel that these funds could instead be used for important development and public welfare works. Further, the low rainfall received this year may lead to drought conditions in the coming months.
